“Thank you for visiting our classroom this school year. You were wonderful and your presentation correlated directly with the concepts we teach in our first grade reading and writing programs, plus the children had a wonderful time.” Sue Short, Honesdale Elementary
K- 2nd grade:
Before reading Who Wants Broccoli to the younger children, Val will share a slide presentation to help students learn how Broccoli became a book, along with the importance of considering adopting a big, fun dog when adding a new pet to a family. Presentation includes a Perfect Pet matching game, a drawing session to help Broccoli dress in a ‘seasonal’ outfit, and an activity sheet for children to think about what pet they would like to adopt. Book orders can be arranged prior to event and books can be signed for handout by teachers/reading specialist.
3rd – 5th grade:
This program for older children includes ‘Writing What You Know’, revisions and publishing timelines, then we open the door on the subject of the critical need for adoption and rescue of pets throughout the USA. Material is honest but not disturbing and is followed by Q&A. Children have option to have Who Wants Broccoli? read at end of presentation. Good program to be partnered with school informational visit with local rescue/shelter. Book orders can be arranged prior to event and books can be signed for handout by teachers/reading specialist.
Mileage/travel maybe be added for schools more than 15 miles from Skippack, PA.
